Trash Container Storage

Single-Family Homes

The City of Chino requires that residents store refuse containers and recyclable materials out of public view to the greatest extent possible. Appropriate storage locations include areas behind a fence or within a garage or other enclosure. In cases where such storage is not possible, residents are permitted to store refuse containers adjacent to the side of the house or garage behind the front yard setback. The front yard setback generally refers to the area between the front property line and the front of a house.

Containers must be placed for collection along the curb in front of each dwelling where the refuse was generated.  Trash containers may be placed at the curb for collection after 5:00 p.m. on the day preceding scheduled collection, and must be returned to a storage area outside of public view by the end of the collection day.

For information on waste disposal (including household hazardous waste or electronic waste), and recycling programs, visit the City of Chino's environmental services web page.

Condominium and Apartment Complexes

Residential developments that do not have individualized trash pick-up are required to provide an adequate number of bins (aka: dumpsters) for the collection of both trash and recyclable materials. In most cases, refuse bins are required to be stored in approved enclosures to screen the interior of the enclosure from public view and to prevent the scattering of refuse. All bins must be maintained with the lids closed, except during disposal and collection, and kept in a clean and sanitary condition.
